Meet RISO’s October Artist of the Month
What is your name and the name of your organization/location?

How long have you been in the art industry?
Nearly 5 years now.
How long have you been using RISO duplicators and the method of RISOGRAPHY?
Almost 6 years!
I got the chance to try using my school’s risograph printer in college and I’ve been making riso prints ever since.
What are some of your favorite colors to use with a duplicator?
I feel like the fluorescent colors get all the love (and rightly so!) but I’m a huge fan of the darker colors like Teal, Hunter Green and Burgundy. My lineart tends to be quite complex and these colors really stand out nicely on paper.
Why RISOGRAPHY?
Risograph printing allows me to combine everything I love about silkscreen printing with the versatility of a digital art workflow. There’s such a natural, crunchy feel to riso printed work that i very appealing, especially in our very transient, digital age. Also, the riso printing community is as joyful and vibrant as the riso inks and it keeps me energized and creative!
What would you tell people who are just finding out about RISO Duplicators and the artform of RISOGRAPHY?
Look for risograph studios in your local area! One of the best things about riso is the community of artists who love the medium and are keen to share info. Riso makes an enormous range of colors but normally a local studio might only have a few color drums for their machine and I think that’s a good thing! Embrace the restrictions and make cool projects whilst building up your skills.
